Hot off the press, we present to you…

Engagement Stories | Edition III

This is the third of our special, monthly, mini-series – the love connections of our Up the Creek Farms staff.

Meet the amazing & adventurous, Debbie!

While she is the Queen Mum of Up the Creek Farms, she is also our incredible source of creativity! Whether setting a classy lounge under the oaks, or creating a fun dessert display, her creative touch makes everything charming and unique. She is one of the main contributors behind the brains and beauty of our sister company, Crystal & Crates. Debbie has an eye for finding the best treasures and converting them into a special backdrop at a celebration or within the home.

Debbie met her true love in the 80’s – we are excited to hear more about these two lovebirds… or should we say freebirds? We asked her a few questions about meeting the love-of-her-life, Keith, and she in return gave us a sweet story.

Enjoy!

Keith and I first met in Aspen, Colorado in 1980. He played on Glenn Frye’s softball team and after one of their games one afternoon, they came into the Jerome Hotel Bar (I was bartending). They were a ‘little’ rowdy, so I gave them a case of beer and tossed them out. That started a sort of “Continental Divide” romance. He lived in Crested Butte and I in Aspen, so he would come over the mountain range to see me on a dirt bike, and I would go there on my horse.

We were both very reluctant to give up our “freedom” and “fun” status in that era of great and affordable ski towns! Keith came home to Brevard to take over the family business (Brevard Pools) and I eventually (back and forth a lot!) followed him.

When we finally decided to commit to each other, it was a “let’s do this” now! He proposed to me in Cocoa Village at The Black Tulip Restaurant in 1982 and we were married several months later. Our engagement was short!

We had a small, intimate ceremony at the Melbourne Beach Chapel and reception at our little house on 3rd Ave in Indiatlantic.

After thirty-five years together, there is no specific special thing about Keith for me. He is, and always will be, my soul mate.

The following years produced two great kids, whom we raised at an old farm house – which has become “Up the Creek Farms”. We are so thrilled that the ‘old home place’ is still in the family and bringing such happiness to so many couples.

The only advice I have for newly engaged couples – be very sure of the person you choose to spend the rest of your life with!!! ………..Then jump in with both feet and hang in there!

♥ Cheers to 35+ years, Debbie & Keith! ♥

You two are an inspiration to the staff at UTCF and to all the couples married under the oaks here. Thank you for all the love and hard work you contribute to at Up the Creek Farms and at Crystal & Crates.
