We often get asked about first looks – why should we do it, does it really make a difference, I really don’t want to see them before the ceremony – but if the pictures from John and Jenna’s wedding tell you anything it is that a first look is so so worth it! Our property covers over 7 acres and there are about a million places to get the perfect shot! Doing a first looks lets you explore the grounds before your guests arrive without being rushed. Then after the ceremony you get to snap a few quick family photos then join in the fun! Yes, I understand that not everyone is up for the first look but if you are on the fence I hope this helps! Ok, I will step down from my podium and get back to their wedding, thanks for letting me get that out there!!
A cold front had just pushed through revealing a perfect spring day for Jenna and John to say “I do”. It is so neat to see how each of our couples take on their wedding with their own personal touches. Instead of sand the couple had a paint ceremony where they each added pink and blue paint on a canvas (an O was covered in painters tape). When the tape was removed the O was a perfect outline of their colors, how cool!!! They said their vows with the background music of the wind breezing through the oaks and spanish moss at the special ceremony site at the point of the property. Guests were then delighted with lawn games during cocktail hour, who doesn’t like to play Jenga!! In leu of a traditional guest book the couple had a wooden monogram for their guests to sign and a gift bench instead of table – they thought of everything!
On their way inside the Boathouse, guests were given a little insight to the Bride and Groom by way of their table numbers – nicknames for each other, high school and college mascots and their favorite beachside restaurant (DaKine Deigos – we completely agree!). The ombre cake complimented the soft pinks and golds that dressed up the Boathouse. Smiles were in abundance as the evening went on and we wish them a lifetime of happiness and smiles!
Wait wait wait…I need to get back up on my podium for one quick second on the topic of wedding videography. One, it is nothing like what it was even 4 years ago, if I could go back and change one thing from my wedding it would be to have Iron & Ivory trek down to the Keys for us. The quality of these “mini films” are incredible Photos are able to capture emotions and feelings but with the films you are able to hear your vows being spoken and the catch in your voice when the emotion starts to take over, a moment that can never be duplicated. Alright, down I go, and yes I started at one but I think that covered it, enjoy!
