They came out to the venue for their engagement session with Lisa Marshall and it was too good not to share!
It was in February and the day after my DELL computer had crashed from yet another virus and with finals coming up, I was fed up and stressed out with Windows computers. My dad convinced me that Apple computers were the way to go and I should go to Best Buy and have someone show me the differences between Windows and Apple computers. I walked into Best Buy and there were three guys just sitting around in the computer department talking to one another. When I asked if one of them could help me, they all looked at each other and Dwayne happily volunteered with his wide smile, bright eyes and blue shirt.
Now, if you know Dwayne, you know that he will give you every bit of detail that he knows to help you out, even if you don’t ask him to. We must’ve spent an hour in front of the MacBook Pros as he showed me all the tips and tricks on how to use it. Through our interactions, flirtations and him showing his nervousness from misspelled words, we got along seamlessly. The butterflies were definitely there. He even talked to my Dad on my phone about the benefits of purchasing Best Buy Care vs Apple Care. Long story short, my Dad convinced me that UCF was the best place to buy the MacBook and that meant I would be leaving Dwayne without purchasing the computer from him.
I felt horrible “wasting his time” and him having nothing to show for it, however, he did reassure me that he wasn’t getting commission and it wasn’t a problem. Before I left, Dwayne asked me to “hold on.” I watched him run to the cash register, pull off a receipt and scribble something on the back. When he returned to me, he said “call me if you have any other questions” with his beautiful grin and sincere eyes and the rest is history. And of course me being me, I made sure to thank him by baking him his favorite cookie and meeting him at the UCF library for one of our first “dates.”
We had been together for five years and Dwayne and I talked about our future and always had marriage and the idea of “us” in mind. On New Years Eve 2016, my family, Dwayne and I arranged to watch the fireworks down on Hollywood, Beach. We all camped out, had some drinks and waited for the countdown. As we counted down to the New Year and the clock struck 12, Dwayne got down on one knee, said Happy New Year and asked me to marry him. Of course, I was in awe and so happy it was happening that I didn’t even look at the ring, I just took the box, wrapped my arms around him and shouted “YES” while the sky lit up and fireworks boomed all around us – a perfect scene for our special memory.
Everyone knows I am a bit of a perfectionist, so when it came down to wedding planning – I was obsessed with finding the perfect place for Dwayne and I to finally tie the knot! I searched online for months in Orlando, where we are from, and I was discouraged that nothing fit my dream wedding venue. Finally, I stumbled upon the most quaint, rustic venue, Up the Creek Farms. Not only did I feel completely welcomed by Jess and her staff, but after seeing the property in person – I knew I couldn’t get married anywhere else. From the beautiful oaks and long stretched fields of grass to the exposed beams and the simplistic elegance of the boathouse, Up the Creek farms was a perfect setting for our dream wedding and we can’t wait to get married there in March!
We can’t wait to see them back in March!
