Courtney + Cre

A Charming Old Florida Wedding

With Spanish moss draped from oak tree branches and secluded acres upon a hilltop, Courtney and Cre knew that they had found their perfect mix of Old Florida and Georgia charm for their wedding. They celebrated with friends and family this past October at Up the Creek Farms. We enjoyed every minute of the planning process with these two as we helped turn their wedding dreams into a reality. Their adorable dog making an appearance for some spotlight photos was one of our highlights from this event for sure!

Tell us the story and inspiration behind your wedding

I grew up in Savannah Georgia, and my husband was born in South Carolina but grew up in Florida. When we saw the property online, we knew the charming old Florida style wedding that Up the Creek Farms offered fit us perfectly! The vision we had was rustic but still modern. We wanted big over the top flowers, elegant but still fun backdrops. We knew the colors that we wanted for the wedding the minute we started planning! UTCF made our vision come true to the T. It was a perfect mix of dusty blue, blush and sage with lots of flowers and greenery. The ceremony was quick (which was perfect because we both don’t like public speaking) and the reception was beyond perfect. Things that stand out: the flowers at each table, the cake being BEAUTIFUL, as well as our other desserts. Overall, the night was beyond perfect and everything went as planned. People are still talking about how beautiful it was months later!

Memories, moments, and stories about the day that you would like to share

Our first look was beyond perfect. We had that little “good luck rain”. It was the slightest drizzle, but just enough to get some good luck from it. Another moment that stands out is our hand blown glass unity ceremony. It was something I’d never seen done before. We chose two colors of glass each (Cre and my birthstone colors, and two of our wedding colors), poured them together during the ceremony, and sent the finished mixture of glass back where it was then blown into a sculpture for our house. Another fond memory is when my dad gave me away. There is an amazing photo where my dad is shaking Cre’s hand and I’m hugging my dad. That moment right there will forever be a highlight of our wedding. It was truly a beautiful and sentimental moment! A funny thing that happened on the wedding day- one of Cre’s groomsmen actually ripped his pants and Briana, our wedding coordinator, had to sew them for us quickly. Luckily she’s a good seamstress!

What were the personal details of the wedding that are a great reflection of you as a couple?

The cake and dessert table for sure. Everyone knows we’re not cake people, so being able to incorporate brownies and strawberries really got to show a part of “us.” The photos of us dancing and partying with all of our closest family and friends also shows us in our element. The over the top flowers describe me perfectly because I like things extraordinary. The simplicity of the ceremony and reception represents more of the simplistic side of Cre. One of our favorite things together was the photo booth. We enjoyed being silly and engaging in some humor throughout the night each time we hopped in with our friends and family.

What advice would you give to future couples when planning their wedding?

Relax, get a wedding planner, have fun, get a wedding planner, don’t deviate from your dream vision because you’ll be upset if you try to make others happy instead of what you really want. Get a wedding planner, get your friends involved. It’s a lot more fun when you have “hype men” helping you figure things out. Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’ll all work out. And if I haven’t mentioned it yet, get a wedding planner!
