Ashley + Joseph

A Simply Elegant Wedding

After nine years of romance, Ashley and Joseph wanted nothing more than to celebrate their timeless love with the people who had watched them grow together. They were drawn to the scenic grounds, scattered, mossy oak trees, and old Florida feels that evoked natural beauty at its finest. Follow us as we look back on this couple’s simply elegant wedding day that truly wowed guests!

Tell us the story and inspiration behind your wedding.

We both have a simplistic style, so the initial wedding vision included whites with greenery. We wanted neutral colors with elegant details. The table settings had ivory tablecloths and linens with small bouquets of white hydrangeas accented with gold votive candles. Simple elegance was the goal! For the ceremony, we had a large cross at the altar decorated with flowers. The cocktail tables had white tablecloths with eucalyptus ties.

What were the personal details of the wedding that are a great reflection of you as a couple?

Events were sequenced to maximize the amount of time we could spend with guests, making our simply elegant wedding all the more personal. The first look allowed us to take 90% of our photos before the guests arrived. We were even able to join them at the cocktail hour for 20 minutes, which was important to us. We had a unique idea to display one photo for each year we had been together on the guest book table. Our guests loved seeing the transformations over the years!

Memories, moments, and stories about the day that you would like to share

The suspense building up to the “first look” was incredible – particularly when our photographer was queuing Ashley. She would ask her to step forward, and then it seemed like an eternity before she would step again. I was more nervous when she was standing behind me than waiting for her to walk down the aisle! When we were finally able to lock eyes, the excitement turned to emotion. The bride was absolutely stunning, and it was incredible.

Before the reception, DJ Shane ran through some “Ice Breakers” where everyone was tossing around a napkin like a hot potato. Whoever was holding it when the music stopped had to do some funny dance. We won’t give them away, but everyone still laughs about this. Someone requested a traditional Italian wedding song where guests formed a circle around us as we danced in the middle. Both of our families are Italian, so it was surprisingly a blast!

“Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks was the final song played and everyone locked arms swaying as we sang to close out the night. Our last dance with just us in the venue was to “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait. This was the first time that we were together alone as husband and wife – a moment I will never forget.
