Kate + Luke

A Rustic Intimate Wedding

From the beginning, Kate and Luke were a match made in heaven and such a joy to work with. Throughout the planning process, Kate and Luke focused on others, making sure that each person who attended their intimate wedding knew that they were important. Their day consisted of many personal touches that reflected their faith that made it extra special. Their rustic and intimate celebration at Up the Creek Farms was a day they will look back on with pure joy for years to come.

Tell us the story and inspiration behind your wedding

Luke and I both wanted our wedding to be a great time for everyone, not just ourselves. Having personal touches throughout our wedding was important. From items like my dad’s handmade ring box to personal notes for each guest at their table, we wanted everyone to know how much it meant to us that they were there to celebrate. Luke and I also decided to hand out plates because we wanted to have a chance to serve our guests as well as take a moment with each person that came to celebrate the day with us. I designed the programs and paper goods and painted the signs as well (ie. the welcome sign and mirrors). We felt that these personal touches reflected what we cared about most, which is the people in our lives.

What was the overall theme for your wedding?

We wanted our wedding to be rustic, but with a modern intimate feel. We choose neutral colors, lots of greenery with dusty rose tied in here and there and a pop of olive. Everything was fairly simple and carried bold elegance.

What were the reasons you chose Up the Creek Farms for your wedding?

It was honestly an easy decision. Luke and I wanted to get married in Summer 2019 so our engagement in December was perfect timing. After researching and getting a few recommendations from friends, I came across UTCF on a 4Rivers Catering Venue list (we knew we wanted some good BBQ!) After looking at the website and then visiting, we knew we loved it and didn’t look any further. We only visited one venue and that was Up The Creek Farms.

Memories, moments and stories about the day you would like to share

My dad is not an emotional man, so to see him tear up when he saw me in the dress for the first time (Father/Daughter first look) was a touching moment for me. It was memorable to see Luke’s face when I walked down the aisle because like my father, he is a stoic man. During the ceremony, we had our amazing musician friends play a worship song and our bridal party gathered around us and prayed over us. Our first dance was an amazing memory, but our last dance was also a special moment for us. Our DJ/ Brianna cleared the room so that Luke and I could have a few final moments together on the dance floor. We danced to “No One Like You” by Motion Church Music, which is a worship song. Our faith is very important to us, so it was pretty amazing to spend some time in worship.

What advice would you give to future Up the Creek Couples?

We absolutely loved the time we spent getting ready in the Decklan house, so we highly recommend that. Trust your wedding coordinator with literally everything. Brianna and Jess and everyone else was amazing and had everything 100% under control. They also have amazing advice for vendors if you’re in need of a recommendation (we used their recommendations for hair, DJ, cake, etc.). We used UTCF Florals as well and they were GORGEOUS! I wanted those flowers to last forever.

Thank you to all the Vendors who helped make this day possible!
