A Southern Space Age Wedding

Funky vintage 1976 Volkswagen Sweet Shot Photo Booth Bus with Star Wars themed props

From a funky 1976 Volkswagen photo booth bus with quirky props to an unexpected reception rocket launch, this southern space age wedding was definitely one for the books! The couple wanted their special day to not only reflect their dueling college rivalries and southern charm but also their shared love for all things lighthearted and fun.

Tell us the story and inspiration behind your wedding

We envisioned our wedding to be rustic, yet elegant. Our wedding colors were dusty rose and navy blue. Vintage touches were added with blush and ivory florals throughout. Patti from Buds, Etc. brought our vision to life with lots of roses and fresh greenery. We chose to write our own vows for the ceremony. It was important for us to be able to convey the love that we have for each other and the promises that we were making.

What were the reasons you chose Up the Creek Farms for your wedding?

Upon our initial visit, we were smitten. The grounds were immaculate! I was immediately drawn to the beautiful oak trees with Spanish moss. From the first tour to the big day, it was evident that Jess and the entire team at UTCF went above and beyond to make our wedding dreams come true. Briana was our wedding planner and she made us feel so relaxed and at ease throughout the entire process. She took our ideas and ran with them to create the best day of our lives!

What were the personal details of the wedding that are a great reflection of you as a couple?

Eric and I are a very lighthearted couple and love to laugh and have fun. The vintage photo booth bus was a big hit at the wedding! It was fun to see our guests show their individual personalities with different fun props. We also love dancing! We were so lucky to have an amazing DJ that kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night! On the day we first met, we were drinking Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat beer. Naturally, we had this as our signature drink. It was such a hit that we ran out before the reception even started! Luckily the always prepared UTCF staff had plenty of other options for our guests.

Memories, moments and stories about the day you would like to share

Nothing says a southern space age wedding quite like an unexpected rocket launch! We were lucky enough to have one on the night of the wedding. Towards the end of the evening, everyone left the dance floor for a few minutes to head outside and watch the launch. It was the first rocket spectacle for many of our out of town guests! Such an added bonus on top of an already awesome day! As many of our family and friends know, Eric is a Seminole and I am a Gator. I decided to add a little Gator pride to Eric’s FSU themed groom’s cake. His reaction was priceless!

What was the most important lesson you learned while planning your wedding?

Relax and have fun! Weddings aren’t meant to be stressful. They’re a celebration of your love and commitment to your spouse.

Thank you to all the vendors who made this day possible!
